CIPP Pipe Lining Los Angeles

A cured-in-place liner rebuilds your sewer pipe from the inside when the old pipe still holds its shape. Jointless, no trench, fast.

Lining fixes the pipe without replacing it, when the pipe will cooperate.

If bursting is the sledgehammer, lining is the precision tool. Nothing gets broken, nothing gets pulled out. A resin-soaked sleeve goes into your existing pipe, inflates against the walls, and hardens into a smooth new pipe inside the old one. The original stays where it is and becomes the mold for its own replacement.

It is the fastest, least invasive fix we offer. It also has a real limit, and we would rather lead with that than bury it.

When lining fits

Lining is for a pipe that leaks but still holds its shape. Separated joints, cracks, root entry points, a line that backs up but has not collapsed. If the host pipe is still round and continuous, a liner rebuilds it from the inside. The camera confirms the pipe is sound enough to host one before we ever recommend it.

How the liner goes in

We saturate a felt or fiberglass sleeve with resin and either pull it through the line or invert it in with air or water pressure. Once it is in place we inflate it tight against the old pipe wall and let the resin cure, sometimes with heat or UV to speed it. When it sets, you have a hard, jointless pipe bonded inside the old one. Access is usually just the cleanout, so often nothing in the yard gets opened at all.

Why jointless is the whole point

Clay lines fail at the joints. That is where they separate, where roots get in, where the backups start. A cured liner has no joints along its length, so it removes the exact feature that failed. Roots have nothing to grow into. The reason joints are the weak point is covered in the guide to why LA lines fail.

The honest limit

Lining cannot save a pipe that has lost its shape. If the line has collapsed, bellied badly, or corroded until the wall is gone, there is no sound host to bond to, and a liner pressed into a deformed pipe just gives you a deformed liner. When the camera shows that, the honest answer is bursting, not lining. Anyone who lines a collapsed pipe is selling you a fix that will not hold.

Lining one section instead of the whole line

You do not always have to line the entire run. When the damage is contained, a sectional liner patches just the bad stretch from the inside, which is cheaper than a full liner and far cheaper than replacement. The locate marks where it goes. This is often the answer for a single root-pried joint that keeps coming back.

How long a liner lasts

A properly cured liner is rated for a fifty year service life, which is on par with new pipe. The thing that shortens that is a bad install, not the material. Resin mixed wrong, a liner cured before it seated, a host pipe that was never a good candidate. The material is sound. The workmanship is where it lives or dies.

What this usually looks like

A 1921 home in Windsor Square, mature trees along the parkway, roots feeding through two separated clay joints about thirty feet out. The pipe itself was still round and sound between the joints. That line did not need replacing, it needed a liner pulled through it, and the result was a jointless run with no way back in for the roots. Sound clay with leaking joints under big old trees is the textbook lining candidate, and central LA is full of them.

What it costs

Lining is often priced by the foot and usually lands below a bursting replacement of the same line, mostly because there is little or no excavation. A sectional liner costs less again. The estimate shows the footage, the access, the liner, and the cure as separate items.
